Dragon Sketches

Posted on:  October 9, 2007

Premiering on November 17th, 2007 is the new book from Toronto-based IMAGINISM STUDIOS called DRAGON SKETCHES, the newest in a series of themed sketch books concieved by the collective talent of artists Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera who once again invited me to contribute.

Based on the subject matter and the wonderful experience I had contributing to their last book SUBWAY SKETCHES, there was no way I was passing up another chance to collaborate with Bobby and Kei.

Much like their previous sketchbooks, they manage to always assemble a killer list of guest artists to contribute:

Andrew Hou
David Colman
Jason Seiler
John Nevarez
Jose Lopez
Kris Pearn
Martin Hsu
Octavio Rodriguez
Pascal Campion
Patrick Morgan
Robin Mitchell

….so get yourself a copy because like Subway Sketches, this book WILL sell out.

Subway Sketches and Art show

Posted on:  June 26, 2007

From the incredibly talented duo of Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera comes IMAGINISM STUDIOS‘ latest book called SUBWAY SKETCHES which makes it’s debut this weekend at Toronto’s new hub for books and art; LABYRINTH BOOKS.

Prints and sketches will also be available for viewing and purchase inside the store. The festivities begin at 7pm on Saturday June 30th so for all of you in the Toronto, Ontario area, make your plans to be there and get yourself a signed copy. Other Imaginism titles and artwork will also be available for sale.

My thanks and gratitude to both Bobby and Kei for inviting me to contribute to Subway Sketches. I recently had the chance to hang out with them in Calgary and they are some of the nicest (and talented) folk i’ve ever had the chance to meet. One amusing aspect to the sketches I contributed is the fact that subways are not the obvious mode for transport here in Los Angeles, which I quickly pointed out to Bobby and Kei. (We do have a subway that goes through downtown and mid city)

Suffice it to say I had to settle for parks, cafes and the mall for my people watching and sketching.
