I
am very pleased to finally announce my participation in the new textbook DRAWING INSPIRATION: The Visual Artist at Work, written by artist and instructor Michael Fleishman.
The book is being published by Delmar-Cengage Learning and is aimed at aspiring illustrators and graphic artists and contains
insights into process, theory and philosophical approaches from a
variety of working professionals. Here is the official synopsis of the book:
…Drawing Inspiration is a one of a kind text for beginning illustrators. This book examines the relationship between academic and professional illustration through the ideas and first hand experiences of professional illustrators working in the field today. With hundreds of diverse hand-rendered and digital images, readers can explore a world of illustration that has no limits. While learning the fundamentals and basic principles of illustration, readers will also gain insight on how these concepts can be used in the professional world. Drawing Inspiration will not only educate readers, but it will also inspire them to reach their full artistic potential…
In it I discuss my approach to line quality, color, composition and light. Michael and I had extensive dialogue regarding these and other subjects and the result is something he and I are very proud of. I wish him congratulations and a job well done.
The book is now available online via
Amazon.com and directly at the
