I’m a day or so early but… Happy New Year! I’ve spent the last couple of days working in WordPress to bring some sort of newness to this place. It’s been long overdue. I try not to reflect too much on the past but it’s been an interesting year both personally and professionally. All I can say is how thankful I am for all things bitter and sweet.
As for 2015.. There are lots of things going on career wise. After 19 years in animation, there is still quite a bit of that mountain left to climb. What does year 20 bring? Who knows. I do know I’ve got 2 books to work on and two shows to attend in 2015. In March I’ll be back in Seattle, Washington for Emerald City Comic-Con and, I’m also looking to exhibit in Portland for the first time in the fall. NO COMIC-CON? Yes. No comic-con. After 9 years there I think it was time for a break and I couldn’t be happier not having to think about that show. Not to say I won’t miss it. It’s always a good time in San Diego. This year I’ll go as a spectator and fan just like the other countless thousand attendees.
It was quite timely but I re-discovered this Photoshop brush I created earlier in the year. I’ve been trying to achieve this “painted but graphic” look and this brush is showing some promise. Hope you like the new home page image as well as the one above this post. Oh and I’ve also updated the GALLERY so give it a gander. The webcomics module is still in testing. It’s taking a lot longer than I expected but I’m confident It will roll out in late January 2015 with STEEL NOODLES Number 1 and Number 2, followed but the first 20 pages of STEEL NOODLES Number 3.
As you contemplate 2014 and look forward to 2015, all I can say is make plans. Realistic plans. Plans that are within reach. Don’t talk about it. Keep it to yourself and go for it. It will eventually show itself in a tangible way and THAT speaks for itself more than any verbal statement you can make. Actions not words.
Lots going on. Some life stuff had to be dealt with. Back on track.
